PLANT-DYED ALPACA MITTENS GLOVES RAINBOW

Handmade in Peru

Regular price €69,95

These gloves have been hand-dyed in small quantities, employing indigenous Peruvian Plants for the colouring process. And the yarns, used to hand knitted these gloves, have been hand-spun, not machine spun. Something, we believe, it can be rare these days even with handmade or handloomed accessories. Making them a truly unique, one-off piece.

Produced in low-volume batches, and dyed with native Peruvian plants, the plant-dyed Rumi gloves symbolise our dedication to support artisans, preserve heritage and our environmentally friendly choice.

Andina World has a lot of heart in it. We work with artisans from the far remote areas of Peru, with women who have few opportunities to earn an income and with people facing social challenges. All our products are handmade. From our textiles dyed naturally using native plants to our handloomed products using ancient Inca's technique, we try to preserve heritage .

Above all Andina World pays respect to the craftsmanship heritage and the people behind every product. Meaning that all our items are fairly traded, as every artisan has received a fair and honest payment for their work .

I hope that each Andina World piece adds warmth and beauty to your home and outfit for years to come and that you find a truly unique, one-off handmade piece.

This beanie has been made by Don Tiodoro and the association he leads in the district of Palca. Made up of fifteen families of weavers, these families are heirs to traditional alpaca care practices, hand-spinned and dyed with vegetable inputs.

"Our raw material is the alpaca fibre. With it we make beanies, headbands, gloves, ponchos, from start to finish”

Puno

Made with higher standards. We preserve artisan craft by paying wages that average 2x the fair trade requirement.

Dry cleaning is the best option for removing stains or occasional cleaning.

Alpaca is a natural fibre. It is softer, stronger and warmer than merino and cashmere. Alpaca farming is sustainable, as alpacas are free roaming and shorn once a year. Alpaca fibre can last decades and it will bio-degrade at the end of its useful life.
